About
About This Blog
This blog is dedicated to the exploration of environmental and behavioral enrichment of humans, and other animals, in the modern world. Basically what that translates as is figuring out what humans need to have fulfilling, enriching lives. I don’t just mean sufficient food and shelter, and not just “a good job.” It means community, natural surroundings, mind, body, spirit, the whole enchilada. What do humans need to be fully human, to be fully, happy, healthy organisms? In zoos and aquariums there are people dedicated to studying how to keep animals in captivity safe, happy, and healthy. For humans, there are lots of branches of science looking at the individual parts – internal medicine, therapists, fitness trainers – but few are looking at us holisitically, as a giant system. The goal of this blor is to explore the exceptions to this rule, and to try to better understand our needs as whole human systems, and what we as individuals can actively do to make our environment, both individual and global, better, healthier, and happier.
